As part of my process, I integrated printmaking. Starting with linoleum block carvings, I printed them by hand before photographing them and masking them digitally to apply as backgrounds or illustrations in my booklet. I feel as though the imperfect nature of printmaking provides a beautiful and more organic approach to background textures. In addition, I was able to further demonstrate the ideas of the passages by utilizing the printing process in different ways. For example, in the section on drowning plants, I purposefully over inked my block. This created an oversaturated and explosive look, even after being digitally processed, that better illustrated the section.
